Alex is an NYC-based composer, lyricist, and bookwriter from Troy, Michigan. After attending Oberlin College & Conservatory of Music, Alex continued his studies at the Musical Creators’ Institute, and is now part of BMI Musical Theatre Workshop’s Advanced Class.

He premiered his first full-length musical, Retold, at Oberlin College in April 2019 where it received a full production. He then went on to write the one act musicals “Partners in Crime,” “Wiz Kid,” and “Tiktaalik: The Musical.” Recently, “Tiktaalik: The Musical” was featured in Theatre Now’s SOUND BITES Festival of 10-minute musicals.

In addition to writing individually, Alex has collaborated with writers such as Andrea J. Love, Patrick Swailes Caldwell, Sair Kaufman, Julia Sonya Koyfman, and Canaan J. Harris. His music has been featured at 54 Below, Green Room 42, Merkin Hall, and the Laurie Beechman Theatre.
